Adam Knight Gibbons, a B.A. in Product Design from Central Saint Martin’s School of Art and Design, founded Adam Gibbons Fine Bespoke Carpentry in 1998.
Adam grew up in Bath and attended Kingswood School, where his love of everything creative was well recognised.
Adam Gibbons Fine Bespoke Carpentry was founded in London not long after Adam completed his degree.
The Company flourished for a decade. Then in 2008, he made the strategic decision to relocate his business to the picturesque West Country, just outside of Bath where the business continued to develop.
However in 2016, Adam and his family chose to broaden their horizons and took another bold step.
The Gibbons Family (Husband and wife, three children, one dog and two cats) moved to the Dordogne region of SW France, Just outside Bergerac, where he continues to offer exceptional bespoke cabinetry services to discerning clients today.

What Adam Says

“My job here is enviable; I personally could not imagine doing anything else. Crafting pieces of cabinetry for people is rewarding and enjoyable. The passion I have for my work comes through in the resulting furniture. The aim is always to produce an asset to every home, built with love and care so that when the work is complete; I know the furniture will reward the client and stand the test of time.”

All in the design

Adam's love of both the aesthetic and mechanical aspects of design enables him to offer a complete and innovative approach to clients' furniture or storage requirements. During the initial site visit and consultation, conceptual ideas are generated through discussion as well as a site survey being carried out. It can be very helpful at this stage if you have to hand some images of things you like. Once back in the office, CAD line drawings will be developed along with a quotation for the proposed work. A nominal fee of €200 is charged for your drawing pack, a cost which will be deducted from any resulting work.  After this, once all is satisfactory, it’s off to the work shop!

In the Workshop

This is where the real work happens. The vast majority of the fabrication process takes place here, off-site, keeping dust and disturbance for you to a minimum. Every piece of furniture is made by my hand, applying age-old cabinetry skills with a proven record of longevity. I offer a professional and friendly service, providing cost-effective and time-managed solutions that do not compromise on quality.

Delivery and Installation

It is understandably disruptive having strangers in your house, especially when they are wielding machine tools! With this in mind, every effort is made to make the delivery and fitting of your furniture as swift and smooth an operation as possible. The fitting is arranged at your convenience and will be carried out by me—the person who made your cabinetry. Protection is applied to any sensitive existing finishes, and I will always leave your home clean and tidy. My promise is always to deliver exquisite bespoke cabinetry for your home.
